Car access — the household’s cars against its workers. Enough cars for all workers: at least as many cars as workers (a household with a car and no workers counts here). Fewer cars than workers: at least one car, but fewer cars than workers. No car: the household has no car. A study that does not split car owners by workers offers Has car and No car.
Bike comfort: level of traffic stress (LTS)
Bike comfort — the highest level of traffic stress (LTS) this traveler tolerates. LTS 0: Will not bicycle for transportation. LTS 1: Will only bicycle on physically-protected trails and lanes. LTS 2: Will bicycle on painted lanes on lower-stress streets. LTS 4: Will bicycle on all roads except highways. There is no LTS 3: riders are grouped by the four types of cyclist (Dill and McNeil, 2016), whose three riding types tolerate LTS 1, 2 and 4, and the study builds one bike network for each.
Work parking
Whether this traveler parks free at work. 'Free at work' travelers pay reduced parking at job-dense destinations (employer-provided/validated parking), weighted by how job-dominated each destination is; visitor-heavy destinations still charge the full rate.
